Polytek liquid mold rubber and cast plastic are widely used in the reproduction of image sculpture and the production of handicrafts. The most original pieces are usually sculpted/sculpted from clay, wax or wood, then a rubber mold is poured, brushed or sprayed onto this original piece to capture all details and allow flexible release from undercuts and drafts .

Various casting materials can be poured directly into these rubber molds, including wax, plastic, plaster, and concrete. Cast plastics can be easily used to replicate sculpture because they readily accept fillers (eg, bronze powder for cold-cast bronze) and dyes that help create a unique look. Depending on the mold material selected, the casting process may or may not require a release agent.

For casting applications, this rubber mold is a step in the lost wax process that ultimately creates a mold that absorbs heat from molten metals and alloys such as bronze.
